Since the launch of HOPE School of Leadership in 2013, we have been focused on creating opportunities for our students to apply their new knowledge and skills in their communities in a way that will share the love of Jesus Christ and bless others. Our capstone course, called Designing Social Change, takes students through the human-centered design process and teaches them how to lead social development initiatives in their own communities. In 2017, we began hosting a series of events in Nairobi we called #ShareHOPE. Our establishing mission was serving and blessing orphans, widows, the poor and afflicted, and sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ. Today, we have expanded and continue to #ShareHOPE in many different ways in many different places. We always encourage our students and administrative team to find ways to work within their neighborhoods, work places, and communities to demonstrate creativity, leadership, innovative thinking, and loving kindness.
In January 2024, we launched the next phase of our #ShareHOPE program. Through the #ShareHOPE Community Development Initiative, HOPE School of Leadership offers grants of up to $500USD to alumni who seek to lead a human-centered design project in their community. These projects will be completed as a team and in accordance with the mindsets and methods taught in our Designing Social Change course, as well as the leadership models highlighted throughout the 21st Century Christian Leadership diploma program. Grant applicants (HOPE School Alumni) will assemble a development team who will work together to serve an identified receiving partner group in the development of a new product, service, practice, or innovative solution.
Funded projects will focus on finding a solution to a real problem and involving real people outside of your development team and in your community. Funded projects will demonstrate the pursuit of a practical, sustainable solution to a clearly identified receiving partner group. Development teams will take photos, keep notes, and make recordings to document their progress and highlight their successes. Project leaders must be willing to share their ongoing progress and results with current HOPE School students.

"Father, we thank you for teaching us about your love through gifts. The gift of Jesus. The gift of salvation. The gift of family and the many gifts of daily provision. Please be with the HOPE School family as we seek to, in turn, share our gifts of hope to those around us. Plant in our hearts a desire to serve others in our neighborhood, in our workplaces, and across our communities. Foster in us a desire to rise up and stand together with our families, co-workers, and neighbors in the creative and innovative work we do for You. We thank you for HOPE School and we praise you for what you have been able to accomplish through its students and alumni. In Jesus name, amen."
